Popular Sandalwood film director Om Prakash Rao and his wife, Denisa Prakash, are facing serious legal trouble. A group of angry investors has officially accused the couple of taking crores of rupees and refusing to pay it back.
The trouble started back in 2023. Actors Bhaskar Shetty, Vasudeva Reddy, and their partners trusted the director and lent him a massive amount of money. The total came to Rs.3.85crore. The couple needed the cash to produce a new movie titled Phoenix. At the time, the director promised he would return every single rupee within just six months.
Instead, three years have flown by, and the investors claim they have not seen a single coin. When the lenders went to the director’s house recently to talk peacefully and ask for their hard-earned money back, things took a dark turn. According to the police complaint, the couple did not apologize or offer a solution. Instead, they allegedly threatened the investors’ lives.
Feeling cheated and unsafe, the group first tried to solve the matter through the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. When talks failed there, they decided to take strong legal action. Armed with the original movie contract and bounced checks, Bhaskar Shetty and the others registered formal complaints.
They submitted a detailed petition to the Bangalore City Police Commissioner and the Byadarahalli Police Station. Police officials confirmed that they have received the complaint and are actively investigating the matter. The director and his wife have not yet released a public statement regarding these serious allegations. As the investigation moves forward, the movie industry is watching closely to see what happens next in this messy financial battle.
