GADAG
Living a righteous life and helping people in need can give meaning to human life, said Pujya Sri Buddhaschara.
He was speaking on the first day of the Hari Jatre Mahotsava of village deities Sri Dhyamava and Sri Durgamma Devi at Okkalageri in Gadag.
Buddhaschara said human life is a precious opportunity and should be used for serving others. He urged people to feed the hungry, provide water to those who are thirsty, offer clothing to those in need and respond with compassion to people facing difficulties. Loving others as oneself, he said, makes life truly meaningful.
He said people should remember that good deeds matter more than religious rituals. According to him, God may not judge the way people worship, but the kindness and good work they do for others have lasting value. He encouraged devotees to follow the path of righteousness and support others during difficult times.
Dr. Siddhaveera Mahaswamiji Gurusiddaya Hiremath, who attended the event, said the annual festival of the village deities holds great spiritual importance. He recalled the traditional belief that Sri Durgamma Devi became widely revered after defeating the demon Raktabijasura. He also spoke about the different forms of happiness people experience through spiritual practices, festivals and blessings.
Pujya Shivasharane Neelammatai of Gadugina Spiritual Vidyashram Asundi, Trust Committee President Kotrappa Kamatara, Jatre Committee Working President Fakirappa Hebasura and several community leaders and municipal members attended the programme. Geetanjali Gowda offered the prayer, Bahubali conducted the programme and Panchakshari Angadi proposed the vote of thanks. Cultural performances by the Savita Puja Dance Troupe from Mandya and Mysuru later added colour to the festival, bringing devotees together in celebration.
