Deputy Commissioner G. Prabhu warned officials that delays in preparing action plans for development works under urban local bodies would not be tolerated.
He said grants are available, but late planning could postpone public projects and basic facilities. Officials were instructed to identify works under each grant category and submit plans quickly for approval.
The Deputy Commissioner directed local bodies to submit action plans under the 15th Finance Commission, State Finance Commission, special grants and other schemes by August 8. After approval, tender procedures should be completed and work orders issued by September 15, he said. Ongoing works must be completed on time and all approved projects should begin immediately.
He instructed officials to finish existing works by August 30, maintain transparency through photographs and GPS information in files. He also ordered inspections of public toilets, bus stops and other civic facilities and immediate action on complaints. Tax collection should be improved by identifying defaulters and taking necessary steps to strengthen finances of urban bodies.
Officials were asked to regulate street vendors systematically by creating designated vending zones with basic facilities. The meeting reviewed progress of development works, fund utilization and future plans of municipalities across the district.
District Urban Development Cell Director Manjunath, Executive Engineer Sridevi, municipal commissioners and other officers participated in the discussion. The administration stressed that timely execution of projects and transparent use of funds are essential for better public services. The Deputy Commissioner directed departments to follow deadlines strictly and ensure that development works benefit citizens without delay. The initiative aims to improve urban infrastructure.
