NEW DELHI
India’s wholesale inflation climbed to 9.87 percent in June, up from 9.68 percent in May. New government data shows rising costs across various sectors, impacting the overall Wholesale Price Index. While fuel and power inflation slowed down slightly to 27.41 percent, prices for primary articles and mineral oils surged. Meanwhile, food inflation remained steady at 6.14 percent. The government also updated its measurement methods, using a new base year of 2022-23 to better track producer prices. As living costs rise, officials are closely watching these trends to understand the broader impact on the national economy.
