Health awareness program focuses on youth wellbeing

A special health awareness lecture on “Adolescent Health – Problems and Solutions” was held at Sri Kolli Nageswara Rao Gangaiah Government First Grade College in Gangavati, Koppal district. The programme was jointly organised by the college Youth Red Cross Unit and Internal Quality Assurance Cell.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Viresh Balakundi, Vice President of the College Development Committee, by watering a sapling at the BR Ambedkar Hall. He said health is very important during adolescence and students must focus on both education and wellbeing. He added that the future of the country depends on youth and they must develop mental strength, self-confidence, and discipline to face life challenges.

Special lectures were delivered by Dr. Suresh Biradara from St. John’s Hospital, Bengaluru, and Dr. Shifali from Hassan. They spoke about personal hygiene, yoga, walking, balanced diet, and nutrition. They also highlighted the importance of maintaining both physical and mental health. The doctors interacted with students and provided suggestions for their health concerns.

Principal Dr. Shivaraja Gurikara, who presided over the programme, stressed the importance of good health in student life. He said healthy students can build a stronger future for society.

Several students received guidance and basic health advice during the session. The guest speakers were also honoured on the occasion.

Faculty members, including IQAC coordinator Manjunath KH, Sakhi Women Unit coordinator Mehtab Anjum, and Guest Lecturers Association president Pavan Gundoora, were present. The programme was anchored and coordinated by lecturers and Youth Red Cross representatives, while hundreds of students and staff participated actively in the event.
