East Bengal FC continued their incredible winning streak in the Indian Women’s League, securing a slim 1-0 win over rivals Sethu FC. This victory keeps the “Moshal Girls” at the very top of the standings with a perfect record of eight wins from eight matches.
The game’s only goal arrived after the hour mark through a brilliant team move. Star players Resty Nanziri and Soumya Guguloth carved open the defense, allowing Fazila Ikwaput to slot the ball home. While Sethu FC fought hard to find an equalizer, East Bengal’s defense stood firm. They now sit eight points clear at the top, looking like the heavy favorites for the title.
In other action, Gokulam Kerala FC finally broke their three-match winless slump by defeating Sesa FA 3-0. Goals from Roja Devi, Emueje Ogbiagbevha, and Shilji Shaji secured much-needed points for the Malabarians, moving them away from the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Sesa FA remains at the bottom of the table with just one point.
The day also saw two exciting draws. Sribhumi FC pulled off a stunning comeback from two goals down to finish 2-2 against Garhwal United. In another match, Nita Football Academy and Kickstart FC shared the points after a 1-1 tie, ended by a late own goal. As the second phase of the league heats up, East Bengal’s dominance remains the biggest story, while the battle to avoid the bottom spots creates intense drama across the field.
