Vijayapura
Activists of the BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest in Vijayapura against the alleged delay in implementing the Nari Shakti Vandana Act and the women’s reservation provisions, accusing Congress and its allies of obstructing the process.
The protest began near Shri Siddeswar Temple, where a large group of women activists gathered and raised slogans against the Congress leadership. The demonstrators then carried out a foot march towards Gandhi Circle, continuing their protest and demanding immediate action on women’s reservation.
Addressing the gathering, the protesters alleged that while Congress projects itself as a pro-women party, its stand in the Lok Sabha on the reservation bill reflects a contradictory approach. They argued that prolonged delay in implementing the law was denying women adequate political representation and opportunities.
The activists demanded that the 33% reservation for women be implemented without further delay and within the existing parliamentary structure. They also expressed strong dissatisfaction over what they described as repeated political obstruction to the legislation.
Speakers warned that continued delay in ensuring women’s reservation could lead to stronger protests in the future. They reiterated that political empowerment of women is essential for balanced representation in governance and decision-making.
The demonstration concluded peacefully at Gandhi Circle, with participants reaffirming their commitment to continue advocating for the implementation of the reservation law. Organisers stated that they would intensify their campaign if their demands are not addressed promptly by the authorities concerned.
