Minister Sivananda Patil ordered inquiry into alleged Akshara Dasoha procurement irregularities in Savanur and sought strict action against offenders

Haveri

Minister Sivananda Patil has directed officials to investigate alleged irregularities in the purchase of kitchen staff uniforms and other materials under the Akshara Dasoha programme in Savanur taluk of Haveri district. The instruction was issued during a meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat hall after receiving complaints from the Anganwadi Workers’ Union.

The minister, who holds the portfolio of Textiles, Sugarcane Development and Agriculture Marketing, said that reports suggest irregularities in the purchase of uniforms such as aprons, sarees and other items meant for programme staff. He instructed officials to conduct a detailed inquiry and take strict action against those found responsible. He added that a formal report will be submitted after verification of all procurement details.

Officials also informed the minister about separate complaints related to the purchase of milk powder for Anganwadi centres in Hanagal taluk. The minister said appropriate action will be taken if irregularities are confirmed at the government level. He further directed authorities to ensure transparency in all welfare-related purchases.

During the meeting, concerns were also raised about the condition of an Anganwadi building in Inam Honnagal village. The minister instructed officials to arrange a safer alternative building and shift the centre immediately.

Officials said the case is under investigation, and notices have already been issued to several staff members including the CDPO, programme officer, deputy director and others. Senior officials, MLAs and departmental representatives attended the meeting.
