In a dramatic operation, the Lokayukta police have arrested Sirwar PAPM Chief Officer Suresh Shetty in connection with a bribery case. According to sources, the officer had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹2 lakh from a complainant for facilitating an account mutation. He had already accepted ₹1 lakh earlier and was caught in a trap while allegedly receiving the remaining ₹1 lakh. Sensing the Lokayukta raid, the accused reportedly fled the scene in his car. In a cinematic-style chase, Lokayukta officials pursued him, but he managed to evade immediate capture. He later went into hiding at a friend’s house in Kavitala. However, the police tracked his mobile location and arrested him on Friday. The accused is currently being interrogated at a guest house in Kavitala. Further investigation is underway.
