Dr. Syed urges preservation of theatre arts

Koppal

Theater is a living art form that must be preserved and nurtured, said Dr. K.M. Syed, KPCC coordinator and president of the Syed Foundation. He spoke at the inauguration of the drama Dharmada Nudi Benki Kidi, staged as part of the Ram Navami festival in Shastri Nagar, Agalakera village, Koppal taluk.

Dr. Syed said theater, though traditionally male-dominated, conveys social messages and brings joy to communities. “In rural areas, extensive preparation goes into every performance. Today, it is important to preserve and develop this art form,” he added. Former Mandala Chief Hulugappa Gada lit the ceremonial lamp. The event was attended by village leaders including Eeshappa Hitnal, Basavaraj Bhajantri, and playwright Halaiah Hudejali, along with Gram Panchayat members, elders, youth, and villagers who joined to celebrate and support local theater.
