Trump Signature To Feature On US Currency First Time

Washington

In a historic move, the United States Department of the Treasury has announced that US paper currency will soon carry the signature of President Donald Trump, marking a major break from a 165-year-old tradition.

According to reports, the redesigned notes are being introduced as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. For the first time, the long-standing practice of including the US treasurer’s signature will be discontinued, leaving only the president’s signature alongside that of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The first batch of $100 bills featuring Trump’s signature is expected to be printed in June, though it may take a few weeks before they enter general circulation through banks. Officials clarified that apart from the signature change, the overall design and layout of the currency will remain unchanged.

Currently, US currency still carries the signatures of former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and former Treasurer Lynn Malerba.

Treasury Secretary Bessent described the move as a symbolic step to honour both the country’s achievements and Trump’s leadership during a landmark anniversary year. Meanwhile, plans to introduce a $1 coin featuring Trump have reportedly been delayed due to legal restrictions that prohibit depicting living individuals on US coins. No official image of the new $100 bill has been released so far.
