A review meeting of Mission AIDS Suraksha Abhiyan-2026 stressed the need for awareness, early testing, and support for people living with HIV in the district.

The meeting, held at the District Collector’s office, was chaired by C. N. Sridhar. Officials discussed progress and future plans to control HIV and support affected individuals.

The Collector said people must identify symptoms early, get tested, and use QR codes to know their HIV status. He stressed the importance of building confidence and providing psychological support to infected persons. Awareness programmes should be conducted in schools and colleges to remove fear and stigma.

He explained the targets under the programme, where 95 percent of infected people should know their status, 95 percent should receive continuous treatment, and 99 percent of those under treatment should achieve viral control. He also said efforts are being made to prevent diseases like syphilis and hepatitis and stop mother-to-child transmission.

Officials highlighted that discrimination against HIV patients must end, and they should receive support in education and jobs. Authorities were asked to ensure all infected persons in the district are identified and treated by December.

During the meeting, NGO representatives raised concerns about delays in funding. Officials assured that steps would be taken to release grants on time.

State coordinator Dr. Deepak explained programme goals in detail. The Collector also released a QR code poster encouraging people to “Know your HIV status.”

Health officials, doctors, and NGO members attended the programme.
