Mbappé Dismisses ‘Wrong Knee’ Reports, Confirms Full Recovery

Boston

Kylian Mbappé has firmly denied media reports suggesting that Real Madrid mistakenly examined the wrong knee following his injury last year, calling the claims “false” and attributing them to miscommunication.

The controversy emerged after reports claimed the Spanish club had scanned Mbappé’s right knee instead of his injured left knee in December. The reports were widely circulated across Spanish media, sparking questions over the club’s medical handling of the situation.

Addressing the issue ahead of France national football team’s World Cup warm-up clash against Brazil national football team, Mbappé clarified that no such error had occurred. “The report that said they examined the wrong knee is false,” he stated, while acknowledging that limited public communication may have fueled speculation.

“I may be indirectly responsible because when you don’t communicate clearly, it opens the door to interpretations,” Mbappé added, emphasising that he maintains “very clear communication” with his club.

Real Madrid had earlier confirmed that the forward suffered a sprain in his left knee in late December. Despite continuing to play through January, Mbappé was eventually sidelined for around three-and-a-half weeks, raising concerns about his fitness and recovery.

Now back in action, the French star has featured as a substitute in Real Madrid’s last two matches as he gradually regains full match fitness. Speaking earlier this week in Paris, Mbappé reassured fans that his knee feels fine and that he has overcome the difficult phase.

Reflecting on his recovery, Mbappé admitted to experiencing frustration and anxiety during the uncertain period. “There was a lot of frustration and even some anxiety. At one point, I didn’t know what was wrong,” he said, adding that he is now relieved to have moved past the setback. France are set to face Brazil in Foxborough before taking on Colombia in another friendly, with Mbappé expected to play a key role as he continues his return to top form.
