D. Sudhakar offers bagina to V.V. Sagar reservoir

In a ceremonial event at V.V. Sagar Reservoir, District-in-Charge Minister D. Sudhakar performed a ritual offering, marking another milestone for the reservoir. The dam, adorned with colorful floral decorations, witnessed Sudhakar along with legislators B.G. Govindappa, T. Raghumurthy, Dr. M. Chandrappa, and other dignitaries performing a traditional puja, offering flowers, and sprinkling ghee as a gesture of respect and gratitude.

Minister Sudhakar noted that a similar ritual was conducted in January 2025, and the reservoir reached full capacity again in October. Plans to hold the ritual in December were delayed due to the unavailability of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, prompting the district administration and local representatives to conduct it this week. The fact that the reservoir filled twice in a single year has brought immense joy to the local populace.

Addressing the attendees, Sudhakar highlighted efforts to resolve agricultural challenges caused by excess backwater from V.V. Sagar. A comprehensive plan, prepared last month under the leadership of the Deputy Chief Minister and district lawmakers, aims to address farmers’ concerns efficiently. New initiatives have been taken to repair canals, roads, and bridges, ensuring that water management issues do not disrupt local agriculture.

Lawmakers B.G. Govindappa, Dr. M. Chandrappa, and T. Raghumurthy, along with P. Ragha, Chairman of the State Sanitation Commission, District Collector T. Venkatesh, Additional DC B.T. Kumaraswamy, Executive Director of Visvesvaraya Irrigation Works Sannachittayya, Chief Engineer F.H. Lamani, Superintending Engineer Harish K.T., Executive Engineer Chandrappa Barikar, and farmer leaders, were present during the ritual.

The ceremony reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to both spiritual traditions and practical support for farmers dependent on the reservoir’s waters, strengthening community trust and regional water management initiatives.
