RTO officials in Koramangala seized a luxury Bentley car valued at around ₹5.5 crore after uncovering alleged tax evasion of approximately ₹70 lakh. The vehicle, registered two years ago, was found to have been documented using allegedly fake papers, prompting the action.
The owner protested vehemently during the seizure, claiming that the RTO had cheated him and asserting that he had already paid the applicable tax three years ago. He compared himself to high-profile defaulters, insisting he was not committing fraud like Vijay Mallya.
Authorities, however, maintained that the documentation discrepancies justified the seizure. The RTO is continuing its investigation to verify the extent of the alleged tax evasion and the authenticity of the car registration documents. The case highlights ongoing scrutiny of luxury vehicles and high-value registrations in Bengaluru, as officials crack down on potential financial irregularities.
