In a heartbreaking incident reported from Nelamangala, a 28-year-old man lost his life after accidentally hanging himself while attempting to play a prank on his mother. The incident occurred at Rohit Nagar, leaving the family and local residents in shock.
The deceased has been identified as Vijayakumar, an electrician by profession. According to police and family members, Vijayakumar had returned home in an inebriated condition on Tuesday evening. He reportedly asked his mother for money to meet his expenses and, during the argument, threatened to commit suicide if she refused. His mother scolded him for coming home drunk and warned him against making such remarks.
Police said that Vijayakumar later went out intending to scare his mother as part of a prank, something he was known to do on earlier occasions. However, the prank took a tragic turn when he accidentally got caught in a noose. By the time family members realised what had happened, it was too late, and he had already succumbed.
Relatives stated that Vijayakumar was generally well-spoken and had a humorous personality. His mother had often cautioned him not to joke about death or self-harm, but he allegedly continued the behaviour. The family is now inconsolable, struggling to come to terms with the sudden and tragic loss.
Personnel from the Nelamangala Town Police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and conducted a preliminary investigation. The body was shifted to the Nelamangala morgue for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
Police officials said a case has been registered, and further inquiry is underway. Preliminary findings suggest that the death was accidental and occurred under the influence of alcohol, with no foul play suspected at this stage.
