India receives the final batch of AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, completing the contracted delivery and strengthening India-US defence partnership, regional security, and modernisation of Army Aviation Corps capabilities.

The US Embassy in India on Wednesday welcomed the arrival of the final batch of Boeing AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for the Indian Army, calling it a fulfilment of commitments under the India-US defence partnership. The deliveries, which had faced repeated delays, now complete the contract for six helicopters. The embassy said the milestone strengthens regional security, deepens collaboration in co-production, training, and technology exchange, and reflects the growing US-India defence relationship.

The Indian Army will deploy the helicopters in Jodhpur after assembly, joint inspections, and formalities. The AH-64E Apache is equipped with Hellfire missiles, 70 mm Hydra rockets, Stinger missiles, a 30 mm chain gun, and Longbow fire control radar, offering 360-degree coverage and advanced night operations. The AH-64E Version 6 is optimised for Multi-Domain Operations, integrating sensors, long-range weapons, and network connectivity for complex battlefield scenarios.

The Army Aviation Corps continues to expand its firepower with the Apache fleet, alongside the induction of 90 indigenous Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) Prachand and the Rudra version of the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). The Indian Air Force already operates 22 Apache helicopters deployed in Ladakh and western sectors.

The first batch of Apache helicopters, initially expected in early 2025, arrived in July after multiple delays. The completion of deliveries marks another step in modernising India’s attack helicopter capabilities and enhancing joint operational readiness with the US.
