Fit India Sundays on Cycle Marks 52nd Edition with Grand Celebration

Nationwide Fit India cycling event highlights Commonwealth Games 2030 milestone and honours private security guards as special fitness partners.

Varanasi

The 52nd edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle unfolded with tremendous enthusiasm across more than 10,000 locations nationwide, with the flagship celebration held in the historic and culturally vibrant city of Varanasi. The morning’s event not only promoted fitness but also highlighted India’s major achievement of securing the hosting rights for the Commonwealth Games 2030, infusing the gathering with a strong sense of pride and purpose.

A unique feature of this edition was the spotlight on private security guards, who were recognised as the special focus group of the week. This initiative continues the campaign’s broader objective of engaging diverse professional communities across the country. In previous editions, the movement has successfully included lawyers, doctors, government employees, nutritionists, and other groups, thereby strengthening its identity as an inclusive and community-driven fitness revolution.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, who has been leading this nationwide movement, expressed delight at the steady rise in participation as the campaign nears its first anniversary on December 21 in Puducherry. In just one year, the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative is being organised at more than 10,000 locations, connecting over 1 lakh people every week. From athletes and artists to actors and citizens, everyone has joined this movement, he said.

Speaking at the flagship event hosted at the prestigious Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Mandaviya added, Today’s mega event is also a celebration of the proud milestone that Bharat is set to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Revered personalities from music and culture have joined us for the first time in Varanasi. Private security guards, who work tirelessly to keep society safe, are our special partners today, joining hands with athletes contributing to India’s fast-growing sports culture.
