Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah’s residence in Lower Dir came under attack, as five unidentified gunmen opened fire at his family home. Despite the shocking incident, the 22-year-old pacer has chosen to remain with the Pakistan squad ahead of their ODI series against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi.

According to reports, the assailants fired multiple rounds at the main gate of Naseem’s house before fleeing. Police confirmed that no family members were injured, though bullet marks were found on the property’s front gate. Naseem’s father subsequently lodged a formal complaint, and authorities have launched an investigation, assuring that the perpetrators will be apprehended soon.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been informed of the situation, but Naseem reportedly declined the option of returning home, expressing his commitment to continue training with the national team. “He wants to stay focused on the series and not let this distract him,” a PCB source said.

Pakistan are set to play three ODIs against Sri Lanka from November 11 to 15 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Naseem will spearhead the pace attack alongside Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Wasim Jr.

Following the ODI series, Pakistan will host Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in a T20I Tri-Series, where Naseem is again expected to feature.

In his recent outing against South Africa, Naseem picked up three wickets in two ODIs, continuing his steady return after an injury layoff earlier this year. Police investigations in Lower Dir are ongoing, with local security heightened around the cricketer’s family residence.
