Women Kabaddi Squad
New Delhi
The Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team has been officially announced for the upcoming Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025, to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from November 17 to 24. The event marks the second edition of the tournament, returning after 13 years since its 2012 debut, when India defeated Iran 25–19 to lift the inaugural trophy.
This will also be the first-ever Women’s Kabaddi World Cup held outside India. Initially planned for Rajgir, the venue was shifted to Hyderabad and later relocated to Dhaka due to logistical reasons.
Asian Games gold-winning captain Ritu Negi will once again lead the Indian side, with Pushpa Rana serving as vice-captain. Sonali Shingate, captain of India’s Asian Kabaddi Championship-winning team, will also feature in the squad.
The rest of the 14-member squad includes Pooja Narwal, Bhavna Thakur, Sakshi Sharma, Pooja Kajla, Champa Thakur, Mini Narwal, Ritu Sheoran, Ritu Mitharwal, Sanju Devi, Dhanalakshmi, and Anu Kumari. The team will be guided by experienced coaches Tejaswini Bai and Kavita Selvaraj, who bring tactical insight and leadership experience to the bench.
The 2025 Women’s Kabaddi World Cup will feature 12 teams, including defending champions India, runners-up Iran, and host nation Bangladesh. Other participating nations are Chinese Taipei, Nepal, Thailand, Kenya, Uganda, Zanzibar, Argentina, Poland, and Germany.
As the tournament returns after more than a decade, fans can expect a high-intensity battle for global supremacy in women’s kabaddi. India, the traditional powerhouse, will aim to retain their dominance and secure their second consecutive world title on foreign soil.
