President said India’s stunning wins showed true class, inspiring young girls everywhere, especially after beating New Zealand.
New Delhi
President Droupadi Murmu met the ICC Women’s World Cup winning Indian team at Rashtrapati Bhavan and congratulated each member for creating history. She said millions of Indians in every part of the country, and even outside India, have been celebrating this victory with great pride. She told the team that they did not just win a trophy, they have also won the hearts of the entire nation.
President Murmu said this team clearly reflects India itself. Players come from different regions, speak different languages and have different personal backgrounds, yet they are one unit and one identity when they play for the country. She said this is the true strength of India — unity in diversity, and this team showed that in the best possible way.
The President praised the team for defeating seven-time world champions Australia and then holding their nerve in a tough and high-pressure final against South Africa. She said winning such matches by a strong margin proves the team’s class, confidence and belief in their ability.
She said that the team’s rise will inspire countless young girls to aim higher in life, not only in sports but in all other fields. She noted that the team must have gone through many emotional moments during the tournament — moments of hope, stress, fear and excitement. But she said they showed courage and belief, and that is why the country believed in them too, especially after the key win against New Zealand.
President Murmu said their success also comes from family support, coaching guidance and fan love. She appreciated the head coach, bowling coach, fielding coach and all support staff, and said she hopes the team will continue to set new benchmarks for Indian cricket in the coming years.
