Deadline extended again to close city potholes

BENGALURU

Frustration is mounting among Bengaluru residents as the city continues to struggle with thousands of potholes despite multiple government deadlines. The previous deadline to make the city pothole-free expired yesterday, and authorities have now extended it to November 10.

Over 16,000 potholes have been reported across main roads, side streets, and local wards. Many residents have expressed anger at the repeated delays, questioning whether government orders from the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister will be effectively implemented by the GBA Commissioner and staff.

GBA Commissioner Maheshwar Rao acknowledged that heavy rains last month contributed to the delay. He noted that several urgent deadlines had been issued, but the city still remains far from pothole-free. Two days ago, the Chief Commissioner instructed GBA officials to complete the repairs within a week.

Despite these directives, skepticism persists about whether officers and workers will meet the extended deadline. Residents continue to face inconvenience, damage to vehicles, and safety risks as the city awaits action to repair its roads. The situation has highlighted ongoing concerns about infrastructure management and accountability in Bengaluru.
