Dynasty Politics Alleged
BENGALURU:
BJP Rajya Sabha member Lehar Singh Siroya has accused AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s son, Priyank Kharge, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son, Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, of acting as “super rulers” in Karnataka, wielding influence beyond their official roles.
In a post shared on ‘X’, Lehar Singh alleged that Karnataka is being “controlled by two immature sons.” He claimed that both leaders are “constantly making controversial statements” and “defying their party’s high command.” Singh questioned whether their fathers lacked the ability to restrain them or whether the sons were simply voicing what their fathers could not say publicly.
“It is unclear whether Priyank and Yathindra are acting independently or serving as mouthpieces for their fathers,” he wrote. Singh further stated that both are “disliked even within their own party” and “tolerated only because their fathers are in power.” Once their fathers leave office, their influence will vanish completely, he predicted.
Singh particularly targeted Priyank Kharge for his frequent criticism of the RSS and BJP, alleging that his speeches resembled those of Rahul Gandhi, driven by what Singh described as “hate politics.” He added that Priyank’s attacks were aimed at helping his father, Mallikarjun Kharge, “stay in the good books of the Nehru-Gandhi family” and maintain political relevance in Delhi.
Lehar Singh’s remarks have sparked fresh political debate over the growing influence of political heirs in Karnataka’s Congress leadership.
