Actor Emraan Hashmi has opened up about the deeper meaning behind recreating the poster of his upcoming film HAQ outside the Supreme Court of India. The actor said the act was not just a promotional stunt but a symbolic reflection of the film’s powerful message about justice, equality, and courage.
“Recreating the HAQ poster in front of the Supreme Court wasn’t just a visual moment—it was symbolic,” Emraan explained. “The film is inspired by a landmark case that changed the course of justice in India. Standing there reminded us of the real stories that shaped it.”
Co-star Yami Gautam added, “Justice may take time, but it never leaves you. HAQ revisits a judgment that ignited reform.”
Directed by Suparn Verma, HAQ centers on a Muslim woman’s fight for justice under Section 125, as she challenges personal laws in pursuit of equality for herself and her children. The story is inspired by a historic Supreme Court verdict from the 1980s that continues to resonate in modern India.
Discussing his role, Emraan said he approached it both as an actor and as a Muslim. “I wanted to ensure the film’s view was balanced and neutral,” he shared. HAQ releases in theatres on November 7, 2025.
