Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday called upon NDA MPs, ministers, MLAs, and party workers to stand firmly by the people as the state braces for the impact of Cyclone Montha. During a teleconference with NDA leaders, including those from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena, and BJP, Naidu emphasized the need for collective action to assist citizens during this natural calamity.
The Chief Minister stated that Cyclone Montha, currently located around 270 km from Kakinada and moving at a speed of 15 km per hour, is expected to cross the coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam. Heavy rainfall is forecast in Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema, and Eluru districts.
Naidu outlined precautionary steps taken by the state government to minimize loss of life and property. We are sending real-time alerts to mobile phones and advising farmers on measures to protect crops from inundation, he said. He directed NDA workers to volunteer in relief operations and coordinate with local authorities. The Chief Minister assured that the state government is ready to seek Central assistance if necessary. He reminded leaders that the administration had effectively managed previous cyclones such as Titli and Hudhud and expressed confidence in handling Montha with similar efficiency.
Naidu said 39 constituencies are expected to be affected by the cyclone and informed that NDRF and SDRF teams are already deployed to handle emergencies like flash floods. He added that arrangements are being made to clear fallen trees and restore essential services swiftly while ensuring fishermen’s safety.
