KOLAR

A woman lost her life and 11 others were injured in two separate road accidents in Kolar district on Friday, raising concerns over road safety in the area.

In the first incident, a tractor and an SUV collided on National Highway-75 near Srinivasapura Circle, close to Jnana Jyothi College. The impact caused a fire that quickly engulfed both vehicles. Three occupants of the SUV were injured, including Dhanush, who sustained serious injuries, while the tractor driver, Seenappa from Kadiripura, suffered a fractured leg. The tractor was traveling from a nearby village to Mulbagal when it was hit by the SUV coming from Bengaluru. A passing truck driver acted swiftly, breaking the SUV’s windows and rescuing its passengers before the fire could spread further. Mulbagal police have registered a case, and the fire brigade promptly extinguished the blaze.

In a second accident near Meesaganahalli in Srinivasapura taluk, a truck collided with an autorickshaw carrying passengers due to a local bundh. The collision claimed the life of a woman, identified as Yashodamma from Vajranagenahalli village in Mulbagal taluk, and left eight others injured. The auto was traveling from Srinivasapura to Mulbagal at the time of the accident. Srinivasapura police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution on highways and local roads, highlighting the need for adherence to traffic rules to prevent such tragic accidents in the district.
