Alva’s wrestlers showcased exceptional skill and dominance as they secured the overall championship for the 15th consecutive year at the Mangaluru University Inter-College Wrestling Competition, held at Mudipu Government First Grade College. The event featured both men’s and women’s categories, with Alva’s athletes winning a total of 11 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze medals, cementing their reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate wrestling.
In the men’s category, notable performances included Nikhil (65 kg), Rakesh (70 kg), Guddappa (74 kg), Shivraju (79 kg), Prajwal (92 kg), Kartik (97 kg), and Rakshit Rao (97+ kg), all securing first-place finishes. Other medalists included Devaraju (61 kg, second place), Krishna (86 kg, second), and Revan Kumar (86 kg, third), adding to the team’s impressive tally.
In the women’s division, Chandrika (53 kg), Shamala (55 kg), Grishma (57 kg), and Chaitra (59 kg) emerged victorious in their respective weight categories. Additional medal winners were Triveni (50 kg, second), Manvita (62 kg, second), Mridula (65 kg, second), Manya (68 kg, second), Pranvika (72 kg, second), and Mallamma (76 kg, third).
The stellar performance by Alva’s wrestlers reflects years of dedicated training and the strong sporting culture fostered by the institution. The athletes were commended by Dr. M. Mohan Alva, President of the Institution, who lauded their discipline, commitment, and teamwork that led to yet another memorable victory.
