RJD leader vows to bring a law ensuring employment for every family within 20 days of forming the new government and to implement it within 20 months.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday made a sweeping pre-poll promise, announcing that the INDIA bloc, if voted to power in Bihar, would enact a law guaranteeing at least one government job per family in the state. Addressing a press conference, Yadav said the proposed legislation would be introduced “within 20 days of forming the government” and implemented “within 20 months.”
“The NDA failed to provide jobs in 20 years. We will ensure every family has one government employee,” said the former deputy chief minister. Recalling his earlier tenure, he claimed that five lakh jobs were created during his brief time in office, adding, “Imagine what we can do with a full five-year term.”
Positioning himself as the INDIA bloc’s chief ministerial face, Yadav accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government of copying RJD’s welfare ideas. He noted that several recent NDA schemes—including free power, exam fee waivers, and cash transfers under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana—were inspired by his earlier pledges.
While declining to discuss seat-sharing or leadership issues, Yadav maintained that his announcement was focused on a single, transformative goal: to make employment a legal right for every family in Bihar. “This is the INDIA bloc’s guarantee,” he asserted.
