President Murmu said Vijayadashami, celebrated as Ravana Dahan and Durga Puja, symbolizes victory over evil and calls for justice, equality, and harmony in society

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday extended warm greetings to the nation on the occasion of Vijayadashami, urging citizens to follow the path of truth, justice, and harmony. She said the festival, marking the victory of good over evil, inspires collective progress for a peaceful nation.
In her message, the President said, “On this auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all my countrymen.” She explained that the festival symbolises victory of Dharma over Adharma, urging people to overcome anger and ego, and embrace struggle and bravery.
“Celebrated across the country as Ravana Dahan and Durga Puja, Vijayadashami reflects India’s deep values. It reminds us to build a society where all people progress together with justice, equality, and harmony,” she added. President Murmu explained that the word ‘Vijayadashami’ means victory on the tenth day, representing triumph over evil forces.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished citizens on the festival, highlighting it as a symbol of good and truth prevailing over evil. On social media, he wrote, “My wish is that on this sacred occasion, everyone receives the inspiration to progress on the path of courage, wisdom, and devotion.” He extended his warm greetings to the nation’s people and expressed hope for a united and harmonious India.
Vijayadashami, celebrated at the end of Shardiya Navaratri, holds cultural significance throughout India, symbolising moral victory and renewal of faith in righteousness.
