CM Siddaramaiah Conducts Aerial Survey of Flood-Affected Kalyana Karnataka Region

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday conducted an aerial survey of the flood-hit districts of Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgiri and Vijayapura to assess the widespread damage caused by relentless rainfall and heavy water release from Maharashtra’s Ujani and Neera reservoirs. He was accompanied by Ministers M.B. Patil, Krishna Byre Gowda and Kalaburagi district in-charge Priyank Kharge.

Before the survey, Siddaramaiah chaired a preliminary meeting with senior officials at Kalaburagi airport and is expected to hold a detailed review after returning. Officials reported that 88 villages in Kalaburagi alone have been inundated, forcing the evacuation of 5,785 residents to 37 relief centres. NDRF, SDRF and Fire Services teams are stationed across the affected taluks to assist rescue efforts.

Floodwaters are gradually receding in parts of Jewargi, Chittapur, Kalaburagi and Afzalpur, allowing key road links—such as the Kalyana Karnataka–Kittur Karnataka route and bridges near Katti Sangavi—to reopen. However, agricultural fields remain submerged and many homes are still under knee-deep water.

In Bidar, heavy discharges from Maharashtra dams continue to flood Bhalki, Kamalnagar, Hulasoor, Aurad and Bidar taluks, submerging crops and isolating several villages along the swollen Manjra River. Similar situations persist in Yadgir and Vijayapura, where the Bhima River remains above danger levels despite a slight drop in water release.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious as relief operations continue and rehabilitation plans are readied to address the extensive damage across the Kalyana Karnataka region.
