Katti panel won all 15 director seats in the Hukkeri Rural Electricity Cooperative Society elections, dealing a major setback to Minister Jarakiholi and Annasaheb Jolle
Hukkeri
The panel led by Ramesh Katti and MLA Nikhil Katti emerged victorious in the elections for all 15 director positions of the Hukkeri Rural Electricity Cooperative Society. The defeat has reportedly been a major setback for the efforts of Minister Satish Jarakiholi, MLA Balachandra Jarakiholi, and former MP Annasaheb Jolle, who had been campaigning in Hukkeri for the past month.
The elections, held on Sunday, saw a voter turnout of 67.54%, and vote counting continued until around 3 PM on Monday. As the winners from each constituency were announced, supporters of the Katti family erupted in celebrations, cheering and dancing with enthusiasm. By 6 AM, the full results were declared.
Results from reserved constituencies—including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, and Women’s seats—were announced first, followed by the general constituency, where all seats went to the Ramesh Katti panel. Several supporters of Minister Satish and MLA Balachandra stayed at the counting center until late at night, leaving only after their panel lost in the reserved constituencies.
As soon as the Katti panel secured nine seats, supporters began a jubilant victory celebration. Streets were crowded, and chants and cheers echoed through the area.
Winners included Lav Ramesh Katti (Bellad Bagewadi), Kalagouda Basavangouda Patil (Yallapur), Vinay Appayagouda Patil (Amminbavi), Shivanand Shivaputra Mudashi (Sankeshwar), Mahaveer Vasant Nilajgi (Hukkeri), Shivanagouda Satyappa Madaval (Sultanpur), Lakshman Basavaraj Munoli (Hebbal), Kempanna Satappa Vasedar (Hanchyanatti), Mahadev Babu Ksheerasagar (Sollapur), Mehboobi Gouseajam Nayikavadi (Women’s seat, Hukkeri), Mangala Gurusiddappa Mudalagi (Women’s seat, Sindhihatti), Gajanan Ningappa Kalli (Backward Class A, Sankeshwar), Satyappa Bharamanna Nayik (Backward Class B, Belavi), Shreemant Gangappa Sannayik (Scheduled Caste, Kanagala), and Basavanni Sannappa Lankepagol (Scheduled Tribe, Gutguddi).
Post-election Incident: During the celebrations, some Katti family supporters reportedly pushed and rocked the car of Minister Satish Jarakiholi amid the crowd, with a stone hitting near the vehicle. Police intervened to disperse the crowd.
