Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday urged the youth of the state to shun addictions and focus on nation-building, expressing confidence in their potential to contribute positively to society. Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Namo Yuva Run’ in Bhubaneswar, the CM highlighted the importance of a drug-free India, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for awareness among young citizens.
Majhi personally flagged off the run and participated in a short distance of the event, reinforcing the message of health, discipline, and social responsibility. The initiative aims to engage youth in activities that promote physical fitness while spreading awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister noted that many of the central government’s initiatives have resolved critical challenges facing the country. “Poverty is now at its lowest level. We are approaching the goal of ensuring electricity and drinking water in every village,” he said, citing the impact of schemes aimed at inclusive development.
He further praised flagship programs such as Make in India, Digital India, and Stand Up India for advancing the nation on the path of self-reliance and economic growth. Majhi emphasized that youth engagement in nation-building, combined with adherence to a healthy and disciplined lifestyle, is crucial for achieving India’s broader development goals. The ‘Namo Yuva Run’ is part of a series of awareness campaigns designed to encourage active participation from young citizens in initiatives promoting social welfare, physical fitness, and the creation of a drug-free society.
