North City Corporation chief orders urgent road, canteen repairs

Commissioner stresses road safety, cleanliness, and regular checks to enhance civic services across Bengaluru North.

The Bengaluru North City Corporation has intensified inspections along critical stretches of the city’s road network and civic facilities. Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar on Friday inspected the service road from Nagawara Flyover Junction to Courtyard Marriott Hotel, Hebbal, and issued a series of instructions to officials on immediate road safety measures.

During the inspection, he directed the High Density Corridor officials to fill potholes without delay using wet mix macadam to ensure smooth vehicle movement. Emphasizing commuter safety, he asked the team to make the stretch motorable at the earliest and to clear debris along the service road to prevent accidents and traffic disruptions.

In addition to road works, the Commissioner also visited an Indira Canteen in the area to review the quality of civic maintenance. He instructed health officials to ensure strict cleanliness standards and to expedite the installation and repair of RO water filters. Marshals were told to strengthen supervision and prevent lapses in daily operations. The Engineering Department has been asked to carry out essential door and civil repair works to keep the facility in good condition.

Further, the BNCC Head Office has been tasked with compiling a detailed report of all Indira Canteens functioning under the North Corporation to streamline monitoring and maintenance. Speaking after the inspection, Shri Sunil Kumar stressed that regular checks would continue to guarantee both public safety on roads and hygienic conditions at public eateries, underscoring BNCC’s commitment to improving civic services.
