“Freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak made Ganesh Chaturthi a public festival to foster unity among people. However, the incident during Ganesh Visarjan in Maddur, Mandya district is unfortunate, said District In-charge Minister Shivanand Patil.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, he emphasized that such conflicts should not occur during the celebrations. “My demand is that whoever is guilty in the Maddur riot case must face strict action,” the minister said. Regarding the stone-pelting incident during the Ganpati immersion in Maddur, Patil said he had not seen who threw the stones and neither had others. “We have brought this matter to the attention of the Chief Minister. Further action will be taken as per the law,” he added.
On the viral video of people allegedly shouting pro-Pakistan slogans in Bhadravati, he stated that the government has the authority to take stern action against the guilty and will do so. Addressing the issue of a Palestinian flag being displayed in Savanur town, Patil said action will be taken after gathering proper information, adding that such acts are wrong.
He also mentioned that DJs were banned in the district during Ganesh immersion, while some districts, like Vijayapura, received permission under court orders, ensuring adherence to Supreme Court-approved decibel limits.
