BSF foils narco-terror smuggling attempts, seizes drugs

CHANDIGARH

In a major crackdown on narco-terror, the Border Security Force (BSF) Punjab, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Amritsar, foiled multiple smuggling attempts along the Indo-Pak border on Sunday, leading to significant recoveries of heroin, weapons, and a drone.

Acting on intelligence inputs, BSF and ANTF apprehended a smuggler near Chabbal, Tarn Taran, seizing 504 grams of heroin, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle. In another joint operation at Sur Singh Market, Tarn Taran, four smugglers were detained with 5.032 kg of heroin, two pistols, four mobile phones, two motorcycles, a Scorpio SUV, and ₹1,000 in cash.

During night hours, alert BSF troops intercepted a drone near Ranian. A search operation led to the recovery of a DJI Air 3 drone carrying pistol parts and a magazine. Another operation in Tarn Taran yielded additional pistol parts from fields near Wan village. “These coordinated operations reflect BSF Punjab’s relentless commitment to safeguarding borders and dismantling Pakistan-backed narco-terror networks,” a BSF spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of BSF Punjab Frontier, Atul Fulzele, visited flood-affected border villages in Ferozepur sector, including Pritam Singh Wala, Pachharian, Palla Megha, Jakhrawan, Basti Ramlal, Kamlewala Dulchike, and Kilche. He reviewed the damage, assessed relief efforts, and assured villagers of continuous BSF support. Fulzele also inspected BSF-run medical and veterinary camps, urging locals to make full use of the free facilities available for the next several days. The initiative is part of BSF’s ongoing humanitarian outreach in flood-hit areas along the Punjab border.
