The resolution, backed by BJP, Congress, AAP, and SP, addresses the remaining 13% quota, reflecting political and constitutional commitment to protecting OBC rights, said CM Yadav

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the state government will meet advocates from all parties before September 10 to prepare for the Supreme Court’s day-to-day hearings on OBC reservation, starting September 23. The move follows the unanimous adoption of a formal resolution ensuring full 27 percent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
The resolution, endorsed by the ruling BJP along with Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and Samajwadi Party representatives, addresses the remaining 13 percent quota beyond the 14 percent already implemented. CM Yadav said the all-party consensus reflects both political and constitutional commitment to safeguard OBC rights.
“The Apex Court hearings are scheduled to begin from September 23. Before that, we will hold a joint session with legal experts to harmonise arguments and ensure no eligible OBC community is excluded,” Yadav said. He added that the government has already reiterated its stance in the state Assembly and is determined to implement the full quota.
The preparatory meeting aims to align submissions from all advocates, ensuring coordinated legal strategy ahead of the Supreme Court proceedings. CM Yadav described the resolution as a decisive step in the state’s administrative and legal posture on the matter.
Multiple petitions on OBC reservation remain sub judice, making the upcoming hearings critical for the implementation of the quota. The government’s coordinated approach is intended to strengthen its case and secure judicial affirmation for the remaining share of the reservation.
The state leadership emphasised that the consensus among all major political parties demonstrates a unified commitment to upholding social justice for OBCs while complying with legal and constitutional requirements.
