The Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission has commenced a social and educational survey from August 23. Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde urged all residents of the district to cooperate with the survey, emphasizing its importance for accurate data collection.
Speaking at a meeting held at the District Administration Office on Monday with district and taluk officials, Hegde explained that the first phase involves electricity meter readers visiting every house to geotag properties. The survey aims to cover all households in the district, using the RR meter as a reference to identify each house and its occupants, ensuring no household is left out.
As part of this preliminary work, MESCOM meter readers will geotag each house through a specially designed app using the RR number and affix a Unique Household ID (UHID) to each property. Residents are advised not to remove or tamper with the UHID until the survey is completed and to cooperate fully with the survey team.
This approach will enable systematic and scientific implementation in the second phase, allowing officials to accurately count, assign sequential numbers, and map all houses in the district.
The meeting was attended by Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer N Hemanth, IAS Probationary Officer Nagendra Babu Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Satyanarayana, Backward Classes Welfare Officer Shobha, DDPI Manjunath, MESCOM officials, and other district and taluk-level officials.
