Council Meeting Stresses Education, Welfare and Social Empowerment for SC/STs
The Karnataka State Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Council convened a high-level meeting at Vidhana Soudha on Saturday to review existing policies and schemes aimed at the upliftment of marginalized communities.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and attended by Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, along with senior cabinet ministers including Mahadevappa, Priyank Kharge, Satish Jarkiholi, and Dr. M. C. Sudhakar. Chief Secretary Dr. Shalini Rajneesh and other senior officials were also present.
The discussions focused on evaluating the progress of welfare schemes, educational opportunities, and social development programs designed to empower Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) across Karnataka. Officials highlighted the need for better implementation, increased transparency, and timely monitoring of funds allocated for community welfare.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that benefits of welfare schemes reach the intended sections without delay. He stressed that education, employment, and social security for SC/ST communities remain top priorities of his administration.
Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar added that the council would work towards bridging gaps in policy execution and addressing ground-level challenges faced by beneficiaries. Ministers and officials also discussed strategies to improve access to healthcare, housing, and skill development initiatives for marginalized groups. The meeting concluded with a decision to undertake periodic reviews to track progress and to introduce corrective measures wherever required. The council reaffirmed its resolve to build a more inclusive and equitable society in Karnataka.
