Around 6:30 a.m., a Traveller van collided head-on with a loaded truck near Survaya police station
Shivpuri
Four members of a Gujarat-based music troupe lost their lives and 11 others were injured in a tragic road accident on Saturday morning in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. The group was returning from Varanasi after performing at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
The mishap occurred around 6:30 a.m. on National Highway-27 near Survaya police station when their Traveller van collided head-on with a loaded truck. Police said the van driver likely dozed off, losing control, which caused the vehicle to hit the divider and veer into the opposite lane before striking the truck with massive force.
Seventeen people were travelling in the van. One person died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries later at the hospital. The deceased have been identified as lead singer Hardik Dave (40), Raja Thakur (28), Ankit Thakur (22), and Rajpal Solanki (60), all residents of Mehsana and Surendranagar districts in Gujarat.
The injured include Mohit Rawal, Ashish Vyas, Narendra Nayak, Chetan Kumar, Harshad Goswami, Mohlik, Rishikesh, and Arvind. One driver remains in critical condition. They were rushed to the district hospital in Shivpuri, where medical teams and local officials provided emergency care.
Police confirmed that fatigue from continuous travel may have been the main cause of the accident. Family members of the victims were immediately informed, and administrative officers arrived at the hospital to extend support.
The troupe regularly performed devotional music across northern India. The sudden loss has left families and their musical community in deep mourning. Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the exact cause of the crash.
