The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has awarded Saleh Ahmed Al Suwaidi, the UAE Ambassador, the Grand Cross of the National Order of the Southern Cross. This is Brazil’s highest honour for foreign nationals, given in recognition of his role in strengthening the UAE-Brazil strategic partnership as his tenure ends.

The award, presented at a ceremony hosted by the ministry, is traditionally granted to heads of government, ambassadors, and dignitaries who make notable contributions to Brazil’s diplomatic relations.

Carlos Duarte, Brazil’s Deputy Foreign Minister for the Middle East and Africa, praised the progress in bilateral ties, highlighting signed agreements and memoranda of understanding. He noted the steady growth of UAE investments in vital Brazilian sectors and wished Al Suwaidi success in his future roles.

In his remarks, Al Suwaidi thanked Brazil’s leadership for the honour, calling it a reflection of the deep friendship between the two nations. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Brazil, an influential partner, and exploring opportunities in promising sectors.

He expressed pride in serving as ambassador, crediting the achievements to joint efforts with Brazilian institutions. Looking ahead, he voiced optimism about advancing the partnership in emerging areas such as innovation, artificial intelligence, data centres, advanced industries, and energy.

The recognition marks a significant moment in UAE-Brazil relations, underlining both countries’ commitment to fostering stronger economic, technological, and diplomatic collaboration in the years ahead.
