Baloch leader slams Munir’s nuclear threat to India

Washington

Tara Chand, President of the Baloch American Congress, on Wednesday condemned Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir for issuing nuclear threats, calling him a “fake Field Marshal” and “enemy of humanity.”

Munir, during a US visit, warned Pakistan would defend its Indus River water rights “at all costs,” even threatening to destroy any dam India might build. Chand, a former Balochistan Cabinet Minister, accused Munir of religious extremism and seeking global destruction under the banner of Islam.

On X, Chand urged world leaders to seize Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and impose strong sanctions before “religiously motivated” leadership could act on destructive ambitions. He stressed that nuclear disarmament was essential to prevent Pakistan from harming the world.

Pakistani media reported Munir’s weekend visit to two US cities, followed by travel to Belgium — his second high-profile US trip in under two months.

Chand has long supported India’s tough stance on Pakistan. In May, he wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi praising the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, calling it a clear message that “blood and water cannot flow together.” He thanked Modi for voicing support for Balochistan’s plight in a 2016 Red Fort speech.

Since Pakistan’s 1948 annexation of Balochistan, Chand said, its people have suffered forced disappearances, killings, and systematic suppression of their independence movement. He accused the Pakistani Army of using violence to crush resistance and urged India to extend political, moral, and diplomatic backing to the Baloch struggle.

Chand concluded that the world must act decisively before Pakistan’s nuclear weapons become a global threat.
