Actor Gary Oldman, known for playing Sirius Black in the Harry Potter films, believes HBO’s upcoming television series could satisfy fans more than the original movies. He said the series will have more space to follow J.K. Rowling’s books and include details that the films had to leave out.
Oldman explained that the movies had to remove many parts of the books because of their long running times. As a result, some character details were lost. He believes the new series can stay much closer to the source material, which could make it more enjoyable for viewers.
The actor has previously said Sirius Black did not receive enough screen time in the films. Despite this, Oldman remains proud and grateful to have been part of the popular franchise. He also praised director Chris Columbus for helping establish the series and its original cast.
HBO’s Harry Potter series has completed its first season and is scheduled to premiere on December 25. The show stars Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, with Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout playing Hermione and Ron. A second season is already in preparation.
