Koppal
The Koppal district administration has announced that the foundation stone laying ceremony for the installation of statues of great personalities will be held in Kuknoor town on May 4 at 5 pm. The programme comes under the Chief Minister’s infrastructure development plan for 2025–26 and the Kalyan Karnataka Regional Development Board’s macro development scheme.
As part of the project, statues of Jagajyoti Basaveshwara, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna will be installed at selected locations in Kuknoor town in Yelburga assembly constituency.
The event will be graced by religious heads including Sri Annadanishwara Mahaswamiji of Mundaragi Annadanishwara Mutt and Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Mahaswamiji of Koppal Gavi Mutt. MLA and Chief Minister’s economic advisor Basavaraja Rayareddy will preside over the function.
Minister Shivananda Patil will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone. Minister Shivaraj S. Thangadagi, MLA Doddanagouda Patil, MP K. Rajashekhar Basavaraj Hitnal, MLC members, and several other public representatives will attend the programme.
District officials including Deputy Commissioner Dr. Suresh B. Itnal, Zilla Panchayat CEO Varnit Negi, SP Dr. Ram L. Arisiddi, and other senior officers are also expected to participate. Local administrative officials from Kuknoor taluk will be present to oversee arrangements.
Officials said the project is being implemented by KRIDL and aims to honour historical figures while improving cultural and civic infrastructure in the region. The release stated that preparations for the event are in full swing.
