Senior political tensions escalated sharply in the state capital as key leaders engaged in a fierce war of words regarding patriotism, past legal controversies, and organizational restructuring within the ruling political apparatus.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President B.K. Hariprasad issued a scathing retort directed at former minister Gali Janardhana Reddy, dismissing recent personal attacks with biting sarcasm. Addressing reporters directly outside the state party headquarters, the veteran leader reacted sharply to remarks labeling him as mentally unstable. In a forceful counter-offensive, Hariprasad declared that he refuses to dignify every erratic public statement with a formal response, warning that descending into petty verbal altercations would only cause observers to lose their own composure.
The exchange quickly intensified into a debate over integrity, legal history, and national devotion. Drawing a sharp line between their respective public records, Hariprasad contrasted his decades-long career as a dedicated political fighter with the severe criminal allegations tied to the mining sector. He fiercely criticized his opponent’s historical legal troubles, pointing out that unlike individuals who faced prolonged judicial custody and imprisonment over massive illegal resource extraction and public asset looting, his own public service record remains untainted by grand corruption.
Challenging the nationalist credentials of his critics, the KPCC chief launched a provocative counter-challenge regarding patriotic displays. He demanded that self-proclaimed nationalists demonstrate their allegiance by reciting the national song completely, specifically challenging his political rivals to accurately sing at least two full paragraphs of Vande Mataram on demand. Furthermore, in a pointed reference to right-wing ideological training camps, he remarked sarcastically that those questioning his loyalty should put on traditional organizational uniforms—specifically mentioning khaki shorts and caps—and demonstrate their discipline by singing national anthems correctly at local shakha gatherings rather than hurling baseless political insults.
Beyond the fiery political sparring, the state party chief provided concrete updates regarding crucial internal administrative reforms designed to bridge communication gaps between the organizational wing and the executive government. Reaffirming earlier announcements, Hariprasad confirmed that a dedicated Political Affairs Committee is currently being finalized for Karnataka. He noted that such high-level coordination committees are standard operational frameworks across all state units nationwide. Senior national leadership figures, including central party tacticians K.C. Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala, issued strict directives during their recent regional visits instructing local leadership to constitute the panel immediately.
