PG veterinary student booked over alleged dog cruelty

A postgraduate veterinary student and a veterinarian have been booked for allegedly subjecting stray dogs to improper treatment at an unlicensed clinic in Doddakannalli. Officials inspected Prime Care Veterinary Hospital after videos allegedly showing cruelty to dogs surfaced. Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry Rudresh Kumar said six stray dogs, a cat and five other dogs were rescued during the inspection. Several bandaged dogs were also found at the facility. Officials alleged that postgraduate student Manjunath brought stray dogs to the clinic and conducted surgeries as part of his research. A stray dog carcass was found outside the hospital, but officials could not establish how or where it died. An FIR has been registered against Manjunath and veterinarian Asif at Bellandur police station. Further investigation is underway.
