Allegations of massive illegal asset accumulation have surfaced in connection with the ongoing KPSC Veterinary Officer recruitment case, with social activist Sharan IT claiming that the extent of properties allegedly acquired by former KPSC chairman Shivashankarappa Sahukar has now come to light. According to Sharan IT, Sahukar was appointed as a KPSC member in 2019 and subsequently became the chairman. He alleged that properties worth around Rs 26 crore were acquired after Sahukar’s appointment, in addition to several other properties allegedly purchased in the names of Sahukar, his wife and his son. The activist claimed that Sahukar had earlier worked with an NGO and earned around Rs 6,000 per month before entering the KPSC. He questioned how such extensive properties could allegedly be accumulated after his appointment to the Commission.
Sharan IT alleged that Sahukar purchased hundreds of acres of land after becoming a KPSC member and later its chairman. Properties allegedly linked to him have reportedly been identified in different parts of Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts. He alleged that several properties worth crores of rupees were acquired illegally and that the assets were accumulated through undisclosed sources. The activist also claimed that there was no significant inherited property to explain the extent of the assets allegedly accumulated by Sahukar.
Sharan IT further alleged that money was collected from candidates seeking appointments through the KPSC recruitment process and that the proceeds were subsequently used to purchase properties. He demanded a thorough investigation into the source of funds used for the alleged property purchases, the ownership of the assets and the financial transactions involving Sahukar and his family members. The activist has released land records and other property-related documents in support of his allegations and urged investigating agencies to verify the records.
The allegations have added to the scrutiny surrounding the KPSC Veterinary Officer recruitment case. Sharan IT demanded that the authorities conduct a comprehensive investigation into the alleged assets and determine whether they were acquired through illegal means.
The allegations made by Sharan IT are yet to be established by a competent investigating agency or court. The concerned authorities and Shivashankarappa Sahukar will have an opportunity to respond to the allegations.
