Former Lok Shakti Party state president C.V. Sthavaramath joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday, along with several party office bearers, leaders and supporters.
The joining took place at a ceremony held at the Press Club in Bengaluru. The leaders said they wanted to support politics based on honesty, accountability and public welfare.
AAP state president Dr. Chief Minister Chandru welcomed Sthavaramath and the others into the party. He said ethical politics had weakened in the country and stressed the need to bring moral values back into public life. Chandru said AAP was working to promote decentralisation, accountable administration and people-focused governance.
Sthavaramath said he had followed Arvind Kejriwal’s political ideas and governance model for several years. He praised the Delhi administration for giving importance to education, healthcare and transparent governance. He also appreciated the changes made in Punjab under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, particularly in the education sector, saying these examples showed that effective governance could improve ordinary people’s lives.
Sthavaramath said he and his supporters were now committed to the political movement led by Kejriwal. He said their goal was to strengthen honest, transparent and accountable politics in Karnataka. Party working president Sitaram Gundappa, general secretary Sanchit Sahwani, media coordinator Jagadish V. Sadam and several other state leaders attended the event.
Among those who joined were Basavaraju Neerthadi from Davanagere, Satish B. Govindappa from Bengaluru, L. Mahadevaya from Chamarajanagar, Dharmendra K. from Vijayanagar, Yatish M.N. from Dasarahalli, and Ranganath R.S. from Madhugiri. Several other leaders and workers also joined. The induction is expected to add strength to AAP’s organisation in Karnataka and expand its support base.
