Minister Pralhad Joshi has alleged that the Karnataka government is directly involved in the Karnataka Public Service Commission scam and questioned the disappearance of an IAS officer linked to the case.
Speaking to reporters after attending an RSS Raksha Bandhan programme, Joshi said government agencies should have known about the officer’s disappearance. He questioned why authorities had failed to locate the officer and alleged that records connected with the scam had also gone missing. Joshi demanded that the government first find the missing officer.
Joshi also criticised the government over action against people participating in RSS activities. He said there was no restriction on taking part in such programmes and claimed that cases against Sangh workers had been dropped by courts in the past. He said the government’s actions would not withstand legal scrutiny.
On rising onion prices, Joshi said heavy rain had damaged crops in several parts of the country, while some areas were facing shortages because of inadequate rainfall. He said the Centre was releasing 1.20 lakh tonnes of onions into markets and would send supplies first to places where prices were higher, keeping consumer interests in mind.
Joshi also raised concerns about rainfall in Dharwad district and said the state government had failed to declare any taluk drought-affected. He urged authorities to conduct a proper assessment. The minister further claimed that political instability was growing within the state government, with several MLAs unhappy about cabinet formation. He also pointed to the absence of several leaders from the Assembly and said the situation reflected growing confusion within the government.
