Massive traffic congestion disrupted Vittal town in Bantwal, leaving commuters and pedestrians stranded for hours. The jam began around 9 am due to heavy movement of vehicles attending weddings and local functions. By late morning, queues stretched across major roads including Palace Road, Mangaluru Road, Salethur Road, and Puttur Road. The only bypass route failed to ease pressure, worsening gridlock across the town. Police and Home Guards struggled to manage the situation under intense heat and overcrowded streets. With no proper footpaths, pedestrians were forced to walk amid vehicles. Residents blamed poor infrastructure and demanded urgent traffic and drainage improvements before monsoon worsens flooding risks further again soon.
