IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians Sign Krish Bhagat as Injury Replacement

Intro: Mumbai Indians add fresh depth to their squad for the remainder of IPL 2026

Mumbai Indians on Thursday announced the inclusion of Krish Bhagat as a replacement for injured all-rounder Atharva Ankolekar for the rest of the Indian Premier League 2026 season.

The 21-year-old from Punjab is a right-handed batter and a right-arm pacer, offering versatility with both ball and bat. Bhagat’s inclusion is expected to bolster Mumbai Indians’ bowling resources while also providing useful lower-order batting options.

Bhagat is no stranger to the Mumbai Indians setup. He has been part of the franchise’s trials over the past two years and featured in the DY Patil T20 Cup 2026 representing Reliance. His consistent presence in the team’s pre-season camps this year as a support bowler allowed him to closely work with the main squad and coaching staff.

The franchise, in an official statement, highlighted Bhagat’s steady progress and commitment. “Krish has consistently impressed the coaching staff with his dedication, work ethic, and the quality he brings to every session and practice games that he played for Mumbai Indians,” the statement said.

It further noted that his growth, both in domestic cricket and during training sessions with the franchise this season, earned him the opportunity to step into the main squad.

The injury to Ankolekar, a promising all-rounder, has come as a setback for Mumbai Indians, but the team appears confident that Bhagat can rise to the occasion. His familiarity with the squad environment and training systems is expected to ease the transition.

As the tournament progresses into a crucial phase, Mumbai Indians will look to integrate Bhagat effectively and maintain their competitive edge in IPL 2026.
